If you are finishing or remodeling a tenant finish space in a commercial building, you are required to submit for and obtain a building permit and inspections.
Requirements for submitting a permit application for a tenant finish
- Permit Application Form
- Construction plans electronically stamped by the architect, and as applicable by the structural engineer, electrical engineer, and mechanical engineer.
- COMMcheck (use most current version, select Riverton as the location) see www.energycodes.gov (only required for new tenant finishes, not changes of use).
- Manual J, D & S or energy analysis documents (only required for new tenant finishes, not changes of use).
- All supporting documentation such as a project manual, etc.
- Valuation (contract or bid sheet including amounts for labor and materials).
Submit signed application and plans to the Building Department by email at building@herriman.org. If your plans are too large to email, please provide a shareable link to where we can download your plans from such as Dropbox, Google Drive or other online service.
We will submit your plans to Unified Fire Authority for their review – 801-743-7200.

Be aware that each project is unique. This may not be a complete checklist, and this may include approvals that may not be necessary for every project.
Plan review will take approximately 10-15 business days after which we will email corrections if needed or if approved we will email the invoice with the permit fees. Payments for permits costing more than $1,000 may be made by phone, 801-446-5323, with an electronic check. Payments of $1,000 and less can also be made with a Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express.
