Upcoming Projects

This page is for information about upcoming major projects in Herriman. Most projects are led by Herriman City, while some are paid for by development partners or other entities, which will be noted on each project. Until a project begins construction, its plans, budget, and timeline are all subject to change.

Once a project begins or is imminent, its information will be transferred to the Construction Projects page.



Old Town Water Line Replacement and Upgrades

Summer 2024 - Summer 2025

Project Overview

The City is upgrading old and undersized water lines in Old Town. These 4- and 6-inch lines will be replaced with 8-inch lines to improve water service and fire flow to the area. Pipes will be installed at a greater depth of at least 4 feet. Water service will have minimal interruptions during construction, though there will be local traffic impacts throughout the project. Federal funds will assist in paying for this project.

  • The City is awaiting final approval from the federal Environmental Protection Agency for funding before the project goes to bid.
  • Bidding is anticipated for April 2024 with construction beginning this summer.

Mountain Ridge Park - Phase 1

Spring 2024 - Winter 2024

Project Overview

Mountain Ridge Park will be a 10-acre park constructed by the developer of the Mountain Ridge development. This phase will include a parking lot, restroom, and pavilion with sodded playing fields and a walking trail. Construction is anticipated to start in the spring of 2024 and be completed near the end of the year.

  • The park is pending final approval and funding allocation

Bonneville Shoreline Trail Extension

Summer 2024 - Fall 2024

Project Overview

A one-mile extension of the regional Bonneville Shoreline Trail that will be open to hikers, equestrian riders, and mountain bikes. This trail will place riders below the Mustang trail, creating a milder section of riding through scrub oak and Juniper pine trees. The trail will have a blue trail rating.

Midas Creek Trail Extension

Spring 2024 - Fall 2024

Project Overview

Extension of the west end of the Midas Creek Trail on the northern end of Herriman from 6000 West to 6400 West. The project includes two asphalt trails on either side of Midas Creek and an equestrian trail on the southern side, joined together by a pedestrian bridge in the middle of the new section.

  • The full project design has been completed
  • A community meeting for the Midas Creek Trail extension and several other trail and park projects was held Tuesday, February 27th.
  • The City Council approved a reimbursement agreement (as part of a master development agreement amendment) in the amount of $850,000 from the Parks Impact Fee Fund to help pay for the project. Salt Lake County will also contribute $800,000.
  • Construction is anticipated to last several months between the spring and fall of 2024.

Blackridge Hiking Loop

Summer 2024 - Fall 2024

Project Overview

A two-mile hiking-only loop near the Blackridge Reservoir trailhead. The moderate-level trail will offer great views of the valley as users climb to the ridge.

Stampede Trails

Timeline To Be Determined

Project Overview

Multi-use trail—A multi-use, half-mile directional trail starting from the lower third of the Rawhide trail and moving south until connecting with the Mosey trail. It is open to hikers, equestrian riders, and mountain bikes. The trail's construction will create another loop between the Mojo downhill trail and Mosey trail. Additional short technical rock trails may stem off this in the future. This trail will have a blue rating.

Hiking-only trail—This mile-long trail will be open to hikers only. It will connect to the Rawhide trail and will be the southernmost trail in the area. This trail will allow users more room to separate from other users. This trail will have a blue rating.

Juniper Canyon Trails

Summer 2024 - Fall 2024

Project Overview

The Juniper Canyon Trail Paving Project is part of the larger Juniper Canyon Recreation Area master plan. This project will pave 2,400 feet of existing gravel trail starting at the Juniper Canyon East Trailhead, and connect to the existing paved section of trail at the dam, as well as provide paving for the trail connecting the Rosecrest Meadows neighborhood to the JCRA trail system. Additionally, approximately 1,000 feet of new trail will be constructed that will connect Sky Ridge Park to the Juniper Canyon Trail system in the area of the dam.

  • The phase's final design is complete.
  • Contractor bidding is expected for May and constructed is planned starting in early July.

Hidden Oaks Trail Landscaping - Phase 1

Summer 2024 - Fall 2024

Project Overview

The Hidden Oaks open space multi-phase project will complete landscaping and other amenities along the length of the existing Hidden Oaks area trail. Phasing of the project will follow the progress of the Hidden Oaks development and is expected to continue over the next 5 years. This first phase will complete the landscaping along the trail from 6600 West to Dansie Oaks Blvd (7000 West), including the detention pond at 6700 W Pacific Maple Way. Phase 1 will also include a trailhead in the area of Dansie Oaks Blvd.

  • A community meeting for the Hidden Oaks trail landscaping and improvements and several other trail and park projects was held Tuesday, February 27th.
  • The phase's final design is in progress and is expected to be constructed in the summer of 2024.
