Blackridge Reservoir Update - Leeches

Blackridge Reservoir Update

Blackridge Reservoir users should be aware that the reservoir water is untreated. The facility’s primary function is storage for secondary (non-drinking) water.

Some swimmers have reported encountering leeches in Blackridge Reservoir. Though these leeches are not known to be harmful, swimmers should be aware that the water is untreated; therefore, users may encounter leeches or other nuisances.

Herriman City is looking into options to help mitigate the leeches, as well as snails and various insects, including stocking the water with fish that feed on the various bugs.
