Advisory Committee

Veterans and Military Advisory Committee

Herriman City has an organized, volunteer Veterans and Military Advisory Committee that acts as a liaison between the City and all Herriman veteran and military residents.

The committee:

  • Makes recommendations to City Council with respect to veterans and military service member related issues, ceremonies, and other activities that occur within Herriman
  • Provides a forum for discussion of issues relating to veterans and military families
  • Acts as a conduit of communication and coordination between the local veteran and military community
  • Assists the City in the planning, development and implementation of veteran and military community-related special activities and programs in the City

Military Welcome Home Procession

Any Herriman resident returning home from military combat deployment outside the country for longer than 30 days would be eligible for the honor of being escorted home by Herriman Police Department. Apply via the Military Procession Form.

Wreaths Across America

Community members may sponsor a wreath annually to be laid on the grave of a military veteran laid to rest at the Herriman City cemetery. Wreaths Across America ceremonies take place simultaneously each year across the United States.

Water Abatement Program

Herriman City will abate the water availability monthly fee for members of the armed forces who have been activated to full-time military duty and such activation would constitute a financial hardship.


Qualifications:

  • Must be a resident of Herriman
  • Must be current on water bill with Herriman City
  • Must provide a copy of United States military activation papers to the City Recorder's Office for verification and complete a Military Utility Abatement Application form (below)
