The Herriman Arts Council (HAC) is thrilled to announce our 2013 summer production will be the classic family musical PETER PAN. Filled with amazing flying effects, Peter Pan recounts the adventures of the three Darling children as they fly away from their nursery into the magic and wonder of Neverland. It is in Neverland that they encounter the cunning and evil Captain Hook, villainous pirates, a crafty crocodile and a sprightly fairy, Tinker Bell, as well as the mischievous Lost Boys, Tiger Lily, and the Indians.

The cast and production team is comprised of residents of Herriman and the surrounding community. The role of Peter Pan will be played by Jocelyn Hansen (Grace Farrell in HAC’s 2012 Production of Annie), Captain Hook will be played by Stephen Kerr (co-director) who was most recently seen in Hale Center Theatre’s productions of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and A Christmas Carol. The role of Wendy will be played by Bailee Johnson, who was recently seen in the title role of Annie last summer and the main role in the 2012 movie “Christmas Oranges”. Co-director, Robyn Bishop, who is also the Theatre Consultant for Jordan School District and former high school drama teacher at Alta and Jordan High Schools, brings a wealth of experience to the arts council and this year’s production.
The Herriman Community Orchestra, comprised of 25 musicians will add vitality and richness to HAC’s production of Peter Pan. James Crane and the Herriman Arts Council feel blessed and proud of the orchestra, conducted by Michelle Willis, and celebrate the wonder and intimacy a live orchestra adds to a stage production.
HAC has made a name for itself in community theatre and has a reputation for producing high quality, family friendly, and affordable entertainment. In fact, it can be argued that HAC’s productions surpass the typical community theatre experience. Peter Pan is the ninth summer production sponsored by the HAC and their last two productions, Annie (2012) and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2012) received raving reviews and attracted record attendance. It is worthy to note that both shows were featured in the top five most accessed shows at utahtheatrebloggers.com, a website that showcases and reviews all theatre opportunities in Utah.
“The Herriman Arts Council thanks the voters of Salt Lake County for their support of the Zoo, Arts & Parks program. One-tenth of one percent of the Salt Lake County sales tax goes to support local cultural, botanical, and zoological organizations. This funding has not only stabilized many of Salt Lake’s cultural organizations, but has also funded the construction of new recreational facilities, and improved walking trails. ZAP funding helps to provide “free” days, free concerts, reduce ticket prices for students, and provide in-school programs for children in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade.”
Another great review for our Peter Pan cast. They were featured on Utah Theatre Bloggers Association. Read the review here.
What a great day for our Peter Pan cast. They got to spend the morning doing two separate television spots. They started out their morning at 5:30am with Fox 13 and Big Buddah. After that, they met with Gretchen from Good Things Utah for more fun. This is going to be one great production that you won’t want to miss!
